Grandparents Who Are Making a Real Difference

Twenty years of writing about grandparenting led to an unexpected gift: a community of people who share the same labor of love.

This past May, Neil Taft delivered a TEDx talk on the very subject that has defined his work. One of the most meaningful things that followed was not the applause, but the recognition from fellow speakers who began calling him “America’s Grandpa.” He wears that title as a badge of honor, because it reflects something bigger than any one person’s effort.

The work of being an intentional grandparent is not done alone.

Two Voices Every Intentional Grandparent Should Know

One of the most valuable friendships to come out of this work is with Greg Payne, host of the long-running podcast Cool Grandpa. Greg has spent years interviewing grandparents, parents, and experts about what it really takes to show up for the next generation. His approach is honest, practical, and deeply encouraging.

Recently, Greg took that work a step further. He joined forces with Christine Crosby, founder and longtime editor of Grand Magazine, to launch a new podcast called The Grand Tribe. Christine brings decades of experience connecting grandparents with the resources, stories, and community they need. Together, Greg and Christine are building something the grandparenting world genuinely needs: a place where the conversation goes deeper.

Why This Matters for You

If you are reading this, you are already an intentional grandparent. You are not here by accident. You know that grandparenting is not passive, and you are always looking for better ways to connect, encourage, and leave a lasting legacy.

Programs like Cool Grandpa and The Grand Tribe exist because grandparents like you deserve more than surface-level advice. They bring together years of expertise, real stories, and honest conversations that help you ask better questions and show up more fully for your grandchildren.

“I feel like the dog that finally catches that car they have been barking at. These programs help us close the gap between what we want to be and what we actually do as grandparents.” – Neil Taft, America’s Grandpa

The grandparenting space is growing, and the resources available to you are better than ever. Seek them out. Share them. Use them.

Thank you, Greg. Thank you, Christine.
