HUMOR IS A GREAT LEGACY

Published by

I am enjoying this season of my life. I am not afraid to laugh at myself and with my Grandkids. Life is a serious deal, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun along the way. My Grandchildren, their parents, and I play some wacky board games that are based on things like “Funny stuff your kids did in ______________.” Or “The strangest experience at their parents’ wedding” and stuff like that. It is a fun way for the kids to realize that life can have fun and humor. I promise you these are the times the kids will remember the most.

I read somewhere that you shouldn’t strive to leave a Legacy with your Grandchildren but rather IN them. Humor is an excellent way to get and stay connected with your Grandkids.

The Legacy of Humor

We, Grandparents, are a special breed. We are wise and loving and know how to make people laugh. Whether they tell us funny stories about their childhood or crack dad jokes, grandparents are always there to give us a good chuckle.

But did you know grandparents can also leave a lasting legacy of humor? That’s right, by simply being themselves and sharing their sense of humor with their grandchildren, grandparents can help to create a more positive and joyful world.

Here are a few ways that grandparents can leave a good legacy of humor:

  • Tell funny stories. Grandparents have many stories to tell, and many will be funny. Whether they are stories about their childhood, parents’ childhoods, work, or travels, grandparents’ stories can give us a unique perspective on the world and a good laugh.
  • Crack jokes. Dad jokes are a classic example of grandparent humor, but there are all sorts of jokes that grandparents can tell. The key is to keep them light-hearted and fun and ensure they’re appropriate for your audience.
  • Be silly. Grandparents don’t have to be serious all the time. It’s often their silliness that makes them so endearing. So don’t be afraid to let loose and have some fun with your grandchildren.
  • Be yourself. The best way to leave a good legacy of humor is to be yourself. Grandparents who are genuine and authentic are the ones who are most likely to make their grandchildren laugh.

So if you’re a grandparent, don’t be afraid to let your sense of humor shine. It’s a gift you can pass down to your grandchildren, and it will help make the world more joyful.

Here are some additional tips for grandparents who want to leave a good legacy of humor:

  • Pay attention to your grandchildren’s sense of humor. What makes them laugh? What are their favorite jokes? You can tailor your humor to their needs by paying attention to their tastes.
  • Don’t be afraid to be silly. Grandparents are allowed to be stupid! It’s one of the things that makes them so much fun to be around. So don’t be afraid to let loose and have some fun with your grandchildren.
  • Don’t take yourself too seriously. Grandparents are often seen as wise and respected figures, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have a good time. Grandparents need to be able to laugh at themselves and the world around them.

By following these tips, you can help leave your grandchildren a good legacy of humor. So don’t be afraid to be funny! It’s one of the best things about being a grandparent.
