In my last book, YOUR GRANDPARENTS RIGHTS, I have created "Actions to Consider" at the end of each chapter. The very first suggestion is probably the most important one. This suggestion is to "Seek out grandparent sharing groups, both online and in person.
Grandparent sharing groups, whether they meet virtually or in-person, can offer a wealth of benefits to grandparents who are navigating the complexities of their role. These groups create a safe and supportive space for grandparents to connect with others who understand their experiences, share their joys and challenges, and offer advice and encouragement. By connecting with other grandparents, individuals can gain valuable insights, learn new strategies, and find emotional support, ultimately enhancing their ability to be the best grandparent they can be.
I think this is paramount because most grandparents are dealing with a mix of really meaningful relationships with their grandchildren and some with no Grandparents' rights at all.
No matter where you are in this roller coaster of Grandparents access to their grandchildren it is valuable to share. There is no shortage of Grandparents to share with. I hope you will seek them out and add value to the entire Grandparent experience. The critical nature of this issue lies in the diverse experiences of grandparents. Many grandparents cherish deep and meaningful bonds with their grandchildren, while others face the heartbreaking reality of having no legal rights to see them. This creates a spectrum of experiences, ranging from fulfilling relationships to complete alienation.
Regardless of where you fall on this spectrum of grandparent access, sharing your experiences and connecting with other grandparents can be immensely valuable. The grandparent community is vast, and by seeking out others and sharing your stories, you can contribute to a richer and more supportive experience for all grandparents. By fostering connections and exchanging insights, you can help create a network of support and understanding, ultimately enhancing the grandparent experience for everyone involved.
