CONNECTING WITH GRANDCHILDREN

It is easy to forget the rules of good human relations when we are talking to our Grandkids. One of the tenants of my Dale Carnegie training is that we should speak in terms of the others interests. This is especially true when it comes to our beloved grands. We tend to miss the part about them growing up. As you know it doesn’t serve us well to talk to an eight year old boy the same way we might […]

MEET PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE

One sure fire way to make sure your Grandparents Rights stay in tact is to meet the family of your Grandchildren right were they are. They need all of the resources, encouragement, and belief in their abilities that can be provided to them. Grandparents are a good source for this encouragement and can contribute greatly to their growth and development. In fact, grandparents have experience and knowledge to share that they learned in life and from decisions they made, good […]

US census data: Grandparents raising grandchildren grows

Grandparents raising grandchildren is not a new phenomenon. It is, however, a rapidly growing one. Census data shows that the incidence of increased grandparent involvement in raising their own grandchildren is getting more and more common. As of 2010 about 6 million children, nearly 8 percent of all children, were recorded as living with grandparents identified as head of household. New study: Grandparents make safer drivers!

Overprotective parents, hand over the car keys: A new study finds that kids may be safer when their grandparents drive than when mom and dad are behind the wheel. That’s the surprising conclusion of research published today in the journal Pediatrics, which found that children involved in car crashes with grandparent drivers had half the risk of being injured. Check out the study news here: Grandparent drivers keep kids safer
