Grandparents rights-They seem to be needed more each day.

The thing that bothers me most about the increasing need for Grandparents rights is that it is the children who suffer.  Our grandkids deserve all the love and support we can give them.  It is when this support  is interrupted by two adults that are attempting to resolve and/or dissolve their own relationship with each other but using the children as weapons.  As a caring grandparent this makes me angry.

I realize that marriages are disintegrating at an ever increasing rate.  It is because of, not in spite of this fact that their is an ever increasing need for both sets of grandparents to step up and offer these children a sense of continuity and stability at the most crucial of times.  I raise up the grandparents as the best source since most families have up until now enjoyed the security of the extended family unit functioning in a cohesive way.

These situations are made even worse when one spouse decides to add the grandparents to their arsenal by refusing the grandparents visitation with the grandchildren.  This is heartbreaking for the grandparents.  Just imagine how harmful it is to the kids, much less what does it teach them about emotional intelligence.

This is the time that I advocate the grandparents learning all they can about Grandparents rights and asserting those rights.  Our grandchildren deserve nothing less.
