GRANDPARENTS’ RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The way I created this Caring Grandparents site is a great story. My grown son, Chuck, and I had a fair amount of success creating an eCommerce site with Recycling Bins many years ago. My motivation was to do whatever I could to be able to work with my son. Please don’t tell him; I don’t want him to get the Big Head. Just kidding, he is a fine young man.

After that success, I called him one day and asked him to lunch to discuss my desire to write a Blog to connect to folks on the internet. Please remember this was about 15 years ago. We had a good lunch, and when I proposed to him that I wanted to write a Blog, he, very caringly, said; “Dad I Love you and if you want to write a blog that will be fine Please understand that me and a few of your friends will read it, but that is about all.” So I began researching and learned a few critical aspects of Blogs then.

WRITING A BLOG

The first rule was to find a problem critical to a target group of folks, raise the subject and propose solutions.

The second rule was; Find the “Keywords” for that subject and repeat them in the titles and first sentences so that the Google algorithms could see them.

Update: At some point, some 1000 folks per month have viewed this site. Once again, please don’t tell my son :).

I chose Grandparents Rights, which, if you pursue the articles on this site and the two books I have written about the subject, you will know just how significant the subject is. I have written over 350 articles and two books on this subject and have had a modicum of success as a Blog.

Alongside this labor of Love travels the fact that I have been writing a weekly newsletter to my family and a few friends for the past five years that now numbers some 60 folks. The purpose of this newsletter, as I call it, is to keep our sprawling family connected by doing things like birthdays and family news. I also do “Nuggets of Wisdom,” meaningful quotes that tie in with my week’s theme.

I say all this to confess that my focal thrust of Caring Grandparents has broadened to include all things, Grandparent. I am an excellent Grandpa, and as my recent articles have demonstrated, my focus has broadened to include many more folks. Our responsibility is to share our experiences and affirmations with our Grandkids at every turn.

Thank You for being a Caring Grandparent.
