“There's nothing written in the Bible, Old or New Testament, that says, 'If you believe in Me, you ain't going to have no troubles.”
Ray Charles
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but in this case, a few paradoxes may be the best I can come up with.
Let me take a stab at this.
How am I doing so far?
- I have stated that parents' rights are found in 4 different places in the Constitution, including Grandparents' zero. If you are a Grandparent, you may wonder, "Did they forget"? I doubt it. Just consider that the life expectancy, when this remarkable document was written, in America in 1776 was 35 years old; in 2024, it is 79.
- We raise our children to be independent, responsible adults, yet we have trouble turning over the reins to them, allowing them to be independent, and trusting them to be accountable when they have their own children.
- Great-grandparents live in a culture of abundance with the lingering memory of the Great Depression. We want our kids and their kids to have more and be better off, so we fall into the trap of "spoiling our Grandchildren" while thinking it's cute. Just sayin'.
- We have created a society that moves so fast and is so complex that there is a good chance that, like me, we are raising a generation that is more capable in many respects than we are.
