Something To Think About

I am a gratitude kind of guy. I realize if you are someone with Grandparents Rights issues it is hard to see silver linings. Sometimes in later life all we have are memories. That is my go to reservoir. It usually leads me to the realization that I am a better person for having Loved my Grandkids so very much. If I really have to dig deep to find something positive I recall those that do have success in seeing […]

Unrequited Love

I fully understand the pain of unrequited Love. Most of us that operate in the Grandparents Rights arena know the pain that is out there. The one thing I have come to know is that there is always a positive side to Love no matter the circumstance. First and foremost we are better people for Loving. An off shoot is that I read about many kids that after a time are reunited with their Grandparents and the power of realizing […]

There is power in numbers

In my last book “YOUR GRANDPARENTS RIGHTS” I have created an “Actions to consider” at the end of each chapter. The very first suggestion is probably the most important one. This suggestion is to “Seek out grandparent sharing groups, both online and in person. The reason I think this is paramount is that most grandparents are dealing with a mix of really meaningful relationships with their grandchildren and some with no Grandparents rights at all. No matter where you are […]

A Grandparents Rights Crusader Back In The Saddle Again!

I have returned after an absence due to illness. I promise you I have not lost my zeal for Grandparents Rights and the contribution that makes to our Grand kids. This weekend I was privileged to watch my ever accomplished Granddaughter preform in a stage production of “Legally Blonde”. I am in awe of this skilled, competent and talented 13 year old Young Lady doing what would strike fear in most adults and doing it so very well. The best […]

GRANDPARENTS NEED A VOICE

I saw this article and it reminded me that unless a Grandparent or other relative has what is referred to in legal terms as “Standing” the children have no voice protecting them. Far from being an encroachment of parental rights this favors a thoughtful and complete review of the child’s well being. With the Opioid crisis upon us there is even more need for a voice for the children. By Katie Kull, Wyoming Tribune Eagle CHEYENNE – Wyoming’s Joint […]

SOME STATES GET GRANDPARENTS RIGHTS RIGHT

Troxel vs Granville Supreme Court case decision year 2000 denied good, decent, honorable grandparents of visitation of their grandchildren. This decision was based on the 5th and 14th Amendments the U.S. Constitution due process clause which is a safeguard from arbitrary denial of the life, liberty, or property by the government but the court deferred to the legislatures’ power to revise the law but did not redefine the scope of a parent’s due process right to control the non-intact […]

GRANDPARENTS ASK YOURSELF THIS QUESTION

When it comes to Grandparents Rights there is a significant question I suggest that Grandparents ask themselves while dealing with the complexity of extended family issues. The question is; How much do you want to pay to be right? Oh but he/she treats my child so badly. I have the right to say something. I will teach them a thing or two. These are just a few of the ways that lead to not being able to visit with […]

GRANDPARENTS RIGHTS ARE MAKING PROGRESS

GRANDPARENTS STANDING IN A COURT OF LAW   The other day I ran across and article on my Grandparents Rights alert on Google. It was an article from 1983 in the New York Times. The outlook for Grandparents in 1983 was certainly bleak. A sign of real and significant progress since then is that there was a ruling to put the 1982 Michigan Grandparents visitation law back on the books in 2004. This cleared the way for Grandparents once again […]
